MONTILLA CELEBRATES THE EUROPEAN WINE TOURISM DAY

Montilla, which holds the presidency of the Montilla-Moriles Wine Route has launched a special programme during these days in order to promote international wine tourism, in commemoration of the European Wine Tourism Day, an initiative, which was launched by the European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN).

WHAT DOES WINE TOURISM MEAN FOR MONTILLA?

As a tireless producer of the famous Montilla-Moriles certified Denomination of Origin wines, wine tourism in Montilla represents the best presentation for the attraction and stimulation of a multitude of sensations for our visitors.

They can learn more about how it is made here by visiting the wine cellars, wine presses, cooperages and wine shops, along with gastronomic wine experiences and a large number of activities that take place during the year, such as the Fiesta de la Vendimia (Grape Harvest Fiesta) the MontiJazz Vendimia (MontiJazz Grape Harvest), the Fiesta del Vino y la Tapa (Wine and Tapa Fiesta), Ecoracimo (Ecological Bunch of Grapes) or the Patios de Bodega (Wine Cellar Patios).

WHAT SHALL WE HIGHLIGHT FROM THIS YEARS PROGRAMME?

This year we have opted for a new, young and intriguing programme with a special mention for the “Wine Escape Room,” where a wine cellar is converted into an escape room.

Presenting the wine tradition to youngsters through “Young Wine Tasters,” where they visit a wine cellar and taste grape juice from the famous Pedro Jimenez grapes. We offer the “Erotica del Vino” (Fascination of Wine) in the Bodega Casa de las Aguas or the “Taller de Vinoterapia” (Wine Therapy Workshop) in the Castillo de Montilla (Montilla Castle), as a different way of learning about other virtues of wine.

There will also be a “Cata Joven Dirigida” (Young Guided Wine Tasting event) by students in the Emilio Canalejo Olmeda Secondary School on the Oils and Wine course in our “Amontillate Truck,” caravan with the intention of nationally making people aware of the Montilla destination.  Other companies in the sector will also be launching activities within the framework of the European Wine Tourism Day.
