WHY WAS PAXERA CREATED?
Paxera is a clear commitment to something different that exists in our municipality: Pedro Ximenez sweet wine was not at all well known until a short while ago. Montemayor is the standard bearer for the recognition of this millenary art, the hallmark of our great village in the south of Cordoba in the countryside.
Paxera got onto the D.O. Montilla Moriles wine sector circuit barely three years ago, to make one of the most appreciated wines known, which sun dried elaboration process dates back to centuries ago, by offering a globally unique Fair, and as such it increases each day in order to put a whole artisanal tradition such as sun drying grapes and the elaboration of our PX on the map.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FAIRS IN THE SECTOR?
Paxera is held in the village that has the biggest grape drying activity in Europe, in a lengthy extension, as a tribute to those people who work under extreme temperatures and hard working conditions, and consequently it has achieved its own discourse within the food and wine market, always by the hand of the DO Regulatory Council and with business and institutional support.
Paxera is different because it combines leisure and training, culture and art, music and excellence, holding the only PX sweet wine contest in the world, which this year is held together with the Asociación de Sumilleres (Sommeliers Association) of Cordoba plus Montilla Moriles Regulatory Council.
On the other hand wine professionals play an important role in Paxera, opting for living the “Paxera Experience”: showing the whole long and laborious process from the vineyard to the table, which has a cultural and experiential footprint that is very important for PX wine making.
WHAT DO WE HIGHLIGHT IN THIS YEARS PROGRAMMING?
The programming is spectacular, but highlighting the gastronomic component, which offers the best culinary creations that include sweet wine as an ingredient or to accompany the food. There is also a Junior Master-Chef workshop for the youngest of the family, various wine tasting events, each being more innovative, like the “Alquimia” wine tasting directed by Isabel Calvache, in which there are a series of blendings with different wines, made with the PX grape.
WHAT DOES MONTEMAYOR HAVE TO OFFER TO THOSE WHO VISIT IT?

Our municipality has the best and widest hotel and hostel offer in the region, there are dramatized visits around our historical centre.
